Alexey Ivanov leads the HSE-Skokovo Institute for Law and Development (ILD), a research arm of a top-ranking Russian University, Higher School of Economics. ILD conducts interdisciplinary research to identify optimal policy strategies for the transformation of Russia’s legal framework and the global institutions to which it connects. As an associate professor at the HSE University Law School, Alexey teaches Antitrust in the New Economy and frequently publishes on the subject.
Alexey also heads the BRICS Antimonopoly Centre, whose aim is to provide the meeting point for BRICS competition law research and promote a distinct BRICS competition law agenda for the global economy, and serves as the academic supervisor of the HSE's Centre for Technology Transfer, which implements projects aimed at developing competition in the Russian agrotechnology sector.
Previously, Alexey was director for legal policy and social development of the Skolkovo Foundation, the Russian Innovation Agency, and made a major contribution to the adaptation of legal environment to the needs of the rapid technological development.
Alexey holds an undergraduate degree with honours from the Russian State University for Humanities, Master of Law degrees from the Russian School of Private Law and the Harvard Law School. Decorated with a medal of the Order «For Service to the Fatherland».
